Hey guys! We’re Leo and Aaron, and our SEOP for the summer (continuing throughout the school year) is a science podcast where we delve into a multitude of captivating and thought-provoking topics. We aim to spark curiosity and provide scientific knowledge in an enjoyable manner to a high school, or younger, audience.
We recently uploaded our first episode on Machine Learning and its applications on Spotify through the Squad podcast account. Our first episode consists of a guest speaker, Jonathan(a rising senior) who, through his experience, provides some insight on machine learning and its applications for the future. During this episode, we break down what machine learning is all about. We use everyday examples to break down how it works, so regardless of your level of expertise, you can follow along. We talk about how machine learning is already changing industries like healthcare, finance, and technology and touch on the important ethical considerations that come with it. So, whether you're new to machine learning or already have some knowledge, this episode could be for you. By the time you finish listening, you'll have a clearer picture of how machine learning works and how it's going to impact our world in the years to come.
In the future, we envision a steady stream of episodes covering topics including astronomy, biology, environmental science, etc. Our goal is to create biweekly 10-15 minute episodes that are short and sweet, hopefully inspiring some listeners to find a new subject that they would enjoy exploring. One of our primary aspirations is to make science accessible and enjoyable, especially for younger audiences. We're infusing a casual vibe and humor into our podcast, aiming to bridge the gap between intricate scientific concepts and relatable everyday experiences. We want this podcast to be something someone can listen to on the bus to school or decompress on the way home. Our plans extend beyond the immediate future as we intend to continue and expand our SEOP during the academic year and perhaps further. We hope to collaborate with local experts, researchers, and educators, enabling us to provide deeper insights and engaging interviews. In the long run, we want to be interactive with our community in which we can further provide resources or share our experiences in science research.
We were inspired to create this podcast because when researching, we found it difficult to find a starting point because information on the internet is often cluttered and messy. We want our SEOP to help high schoolers like us or anyone struggling to find interesting topics to gain inspiration and hopefully delve further into that topic. Also, when creating this podcast, we were especially shocked by the lack of resources some schools had for science research, so we hope that our listeners will find something they are passionate about. As science enthusiasts, we believe no matter what situation someone is in, anyone who is interested in the sciences should have an opportunity to explore their interests. We ultimately chose the podcast as our platform because we appreciate how it allows us to speak freely instead of writing lengthy informative essays. This setting allows us to express ourselves more freely. We look forward to sharing our journey with you!
